Hola! My name is Aaron Reyes and I am the Lead Pastor of Church of the Violet Crown. I planted this church in Fall 2014 in East Austin and also live in East Austin with my wife, Michelle, and our toddler son, Azariah.
I was born and raised in Texas, but left the Lone Star State for a brief interim period for college. I have a B.A. from Wheaton College and an M.Div. from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. In the following year after seminary, I then completed a one-year pastoral residency in Chicago before moving back to Texas to start this church.
My wife and I have been married for over seven years. Michelle has a Ph.D in 18th-Century German literature and is also a German professor at Southwestern University. We are both passionate about reaching the diverse people here in East Austin.
Together, Michelle and I have created a devotional blog called “The Art of Taleh” (theartoftaleh.com), which provides a new teaching model accessible for anyone for studying the Bible. In the fall 2016, we also started a “Let’s Talk Series” – a series of events centered around productive dialogues of politics, race and faith. You can learn more about these events here.
In our free time, we enjoy cooking together, going on walks with our son, and watching football.
